If you live in Stockport, there is plenty of support available this summer. Stockport Council’s cost-of-living hub is a useful online support service that brings together all the support options in one place.
Here are some other ways you can get help:
Resident Advice and Support Team: This team is here to guide you through the different ways to get support with the cost of living. Whether you need help with benefit advice or applying for national schemes, they’re ready to assist with any worries related to the current economic situation. You can call them at 0161 474 2140, Monday to Friday, from 9:30am to 4pm.
One Stockport: One Stockport operates a Cost of Living Helpline at 0161 474 2140.
Mental and Physical Health Support: For information, resources and support to help you look after your health and mental wellbeing, and to access free and confidential local support services to help you make changes to improve your health, visit the Healthy Stockport website.
Money Advice: The Stockport Homes Money Advice Team offers free, confidential, and impartial money and benefits advice. You can contact them via phone on 0161 217 6016 or via email at moneyadvice@stockporthomes.org
Free Family Events and Activities: Looking for things to do this summer? Stockport Council has a schedule of free events and activities for families and children across the area:Stockport Council Events.
Free Meals for Children: See here a full list of major restaurant chains and supermarket cafés offering kids' meals for free or £1, usually with a minimum adult spend required. Some offer these deals all-year-round, while others do it for a limited time during school holidays.
Stockport Library Service: Libraries are a great free resource, and if you need advice or support, library staff can connect you with Citizens Advice for appointments. Find your local library here. 2026 is also the National Year of Reading; visit the Go All In website for more information.
