Navendu Mishra MP demands government funds to fix "crumbling" Stepping Hill Hospital

My question to the Department for Health and Social Care about the poor condition of Stepping Hill Hospital.

I raised the unacceptable state of Stepping Hill Hospital - which after fourteen years of government neglect and underfunding is quite literally crumbling - in the House of Commons this week.

As I have discussed with the Chief Executive of Stepping Hill and in meetings with Unison's Stepping Hill branch, the deterioration of the hospital's estate is an urgent and ongoing problem. In November of last year, concerns over the safety of the building led to the closure of a major department within the hospital.

The issues at Stepping Hill are another demonstration of the detrimental impact that fourteen years of Conservative mismanagement have had on the NHS; denying patients the high-quality care they deserve, and hardworking NHS staff the facilities they need to deliver this care.

The Government must listen to my calls for the capital investment that Stepping Hill requires.

My thanks to all staff at Stepping Hill.
